Chili con carne - delicious mexican dish

Traditional Mexican dishes are famous primarily for their spiciness. Mexicans - the people are hot, and this manifests itself even in the number of spices used, they never regret pepper. Today, we suggest you prepare a dish called "chili con carn", which is considered a visiting card of Texan-Mexican cuisine.

But first, let's figure out how and from what the cooks are advised to cook skilled cooks. It usually uses red beans, beef, tomatoes and a lot of spices.

Immediately it should be noted that the seasonings should be natural. Ideally, garlic, cumin (ground zera) and chili pepper. It is better to chop the garlic with a knife, rather than squeeze it out, so it will reveal its flavor more.

But, depending on your own preferences, you can add other spices, for example, paprika, bay leaf, oregano, cloves. But you need to do this as soon as you combine all the ingredients in the pan so that they can soak in the aroma while they are being cooked.

You can serve this delicacy by adding greens and wrapping in lavash, or in individual plates with a side dish of boiled rice. But do not forget to add a little sour cream before serving.

Well, here is the recipe itself. Will be needed:

  • Beef - 500 g;
  • beans - 200 g;
  • onions - 1 pc .;
  • tomatoes - 5-6 pieces;
  • chili pepper - 1 pc .;
  • garlic - 3 cloves;
  • spice.

If you use conventional, non-canned beans, do not forget to pre-soak it in water for 12 hours, then weld it. Since chili con carne is traditionally cooked with minced meat, the beef must be ground in a blender or with the help of a meat grinder.

Next, fry the meat a little in the pan, add the finely chopped onion, and simmer until the onion turns golden. The next step is to put peeled and cut tomatoes, garlic, chopped peppers without seeds and spices.

There is one unusual secret - in a mixture of meat with seasonings, you can add a cup of classic American or a small piece of black bitter chocolate.This move, although it seems strange, actually helps to achieve even more original taste.

Put 1 tsp. sugar and simmer all together for about half an hour. If you have prepared boiled beans, then over time, add it. It is better to put canned food in the end.

Pour in some water and leave to simmer for 60 minutes over low heat. When everything is ready, do not rush to serve food on the table. Usually Mexicans prepare chili con carne in advance, and let it brew for about 12 hours. But if you are not eager to try this tasty dish, then wait at least 1-2 hours. Watch the liquid and add it as it boils away.

And one more secret - if you want the products not to turn into porridge and preserve their attractive appearance, you can pre-fry them separately. By the way, minced meat is recommended to fry on high heat, so it will not lose its juiciness.

Despite the fact that in Mexico basically everything is done with the addition of beef, you can replace it with pork, or mix two types of meat in equal proportions. And for vegetarians, there is a special recipe that uses soy meat and tofu.
