How to Clean Stainless Steel Stainless Steel Appliances
If you have any stainless steel appliance: a refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, etc., you know that they do not so often delight with their pleasant sheen. I can not even remember when my dishwasher had no fingerprints and was not decorated with water splashes. The same applies to the stove and to the refrigerator. Even with careful rubbing with a rag, it turns out to be quite easy to scratch.
There are special detergents that promise to return our stainless steel appliances that brilliant appearance that was in the showroom. But usually they have a hefty price tag and a rather aggressive nature; is there really no other solution for “happy” owners of stainless steel home appliances? Do we really want our delicate finger tips to come into contact with such chemicals?
Here's a tutorial on how to clean stainless steel appliances without aggressive chemicals and return them to a flawless appearance!
Step 1: Determine the direction of the fibers
Also, like a tree on a sheet of stainless steel usually has the direction of the fibers. If you look at your device more closely, you will find small furrows. The direction of these grooves on the whole sheet became the same. Nevertheless, on other parts of the device, for example, such as handles, the direction of the furrows may be different. Therefore, you should always be careful.
Will your device break if you wash it not in the direction of the fibers? Nope Nothing dramatic will happen! If you clean the perpendicular to the fibers a mixture of detergent and contaminants that already exist on the steel can accumulate in these small grooves. For optimum gloss, it is best to brush along the direction of the fibers.
This applies to any cleaning agent that you use to clean stainless steel.
Step 2: Preparation
Here's what you need:
- 2 non-abrasive cloths. I took a rag of 100% cotton, it almost does not leave pile. Tep at least earlier I used ordinary paper towels, which also normally cope (they leave a little nap).
- Dishwashing liquid.
- Baby oil or any mineral oil.
- Stainless steel
Step 3: Cleaning
Surprisingly, the usual "soft" washing-up liquid does not copeonly with plates ... but also with home appliances! Who would know? This stage will remove dirt from the surface and make the polishing process much more pleasant!
Apply a small amount to a rag. Rinse the rag in a small amount of water, enough that it just becomes wet.
Wipe along the fiber direction of your device. It may be necessary to walk several times to remove too complex stains.
When you finish thorough cleaning over the entire area, wipe off the remaining water with a dry towel.
Step 4: Polishing
At this stage, we will return the former shine to household appliances!
For polishing, I use baby oil. There was already a funny article about the unexpected ways of using baby oil, they forgot to mention my method. 🙂
Drip a small amount of baby oil or any mineral on a second rag. A couple of drops will be more than enough.
When polishing it is not necessary to follow the direction of the fibers on the stainless steel, you can move in any direction.
So you will achieve an ideal result.
