In the Russian sense, a dish is usually associated with a side dish, which is usually served with meat and fish, usually it is not used on its own.

For any housewife is always very clear what may be a side dish: some cereals, for example, rice or buckwheat, pasta, legumes, vegetables, or even berry inventions. Well, for example, you probably do not really imagine boiled noodles with fried fish, but you will perfectly respond to boiled buckwheat, which is filled with fried onions and carrots, and served with chicken.

That is why it is so important to skillfully select combinations of products in order not to be misled. And even having learned to skillfully manipulate dishes, there can come a moment from the hostess when she does not know at all what to serve. This may be due to some solemn moment or, simply, everything is fed up and bored, I want something new.

Thanks to many years of habits, even the most modern housewives have a certain set of side dishes, which she periodically prepares each time.

Chinese Fried Rice

For its preparation you will need:

  • 200 grams of rice. It is better to choose a long grain option.
  • 1 medium carrot.
  • 2 eggs.
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic.
  • 1 can of canned peas.
  • A bunch of green onions, soy sauce, salt and pepper.

Before you start cooking the main dish, rice should be well washed with water, and then cook until ready.Next, chop the garlic, chop the green onions and cut the carrot into small cubes. Eggs must be whipped, then fry in vegetable oil to a state of readiness.

In another pan, fry the carrots when they are soft, add chopped garlic and onions, and then fry them again. From the peas we first pour out the water, and then send it to the carrot.

Almost immediately after that, there we also shift boiled rice and egg. Everything is thoroughly mixed together, poured with soy sauce (to taste), and then lightly fried. Garnish ready!

This is an independent type of side dish, it can be easily consumed without meat or fish, it is quite nutritious and carries its own taste orientation.

For meat

Depending on which meat will serve as the main dish, you need to choose the appropriate side dish. For example, if you decide today to cook lamb, then, given its rather strong and aggressive taste, it is better to pay attention to the side dishes, which will not create such a powerful effect, softening the main dish.

You can use boiled potatoes, which are a kind of universal product, but if you want bright taste sensations, it is better to add onions and garlic. Rice will do as well, but do not forget to season it with carrots, zira and barberries.

Also, lamb goes well with vegetables: tomatoes, eggplants and bell peppers. The easiest way to make them on the grill, or, if you have time, do a sauté with onions and garlic.

If pork is on the agenda, it is necessary to know that due to its taste, it is slightly similar to chicken, which makes it possible to combine it with sweet and sour side dishes.

Pork is considered a simple dish that must be served without frills, for example, with rice or buckwheat, seasoned with carrots and onions, various steamed vegetables with potatoes in all its variations are perfect.

However, here you can achieve diversity, for example, such a banal puree, easily transformed into a work of culinary art, if you add, for example, fried mushrooms with onions, pesto sauce, wasabi, baked garlic or truffle paste to a ready-made potato mass.

It is impossible to say which side dish will turn out better if you add one of the listed ingredients to it, it's all a matter of personal taste and perception. So experiment!

If you decide to do beef, then you need to know that this meat requires a delicate side dish, it should not contain sharp tastes, sour and aggressive flavors.

Beef goes well with mashed potatoes, but it needs to be done only with soft fillings, such as: yolk, cream, and, depending on taste, a little blue cheese.

Also, this meat is well combined with fried potatoes, white mushrooms and champignons, and, of course, vegetables: carrots, green beans, corn, zucchini and Brussels sprouts. If you are making beef steak, boiled asparagus and roasted spinach, which is crushed in cream to a creamy mass, will be the perfect side dish.

To fish

The most important three types of side dishes that best combine with fish dishes are undoubtedly potatoes, rice and boiled or baked vegetables. Much depends on the form in which you are going to cook the fish, the fried potatoes are suitable for fried fish, but for boiled fish - boiled, which can be in the form of mashed potatoes, if served with fish cakes or spaghetti, meatballs.

By the way, grilled greens, such as parsley or celery, can be a great addition to the side dish.

Vegetables are the right side dish for fish, they can be fried or completely raw, the main thing is to make the dish attractive and appetizing, and in this the vegetables are the best helpers. We give a recipe for a simple dish that is best combined with fried or baked fish.

Green beans with almond to fish

For its preparation you will need 4 servings:

  • 300 g of green beans;
  • 100 gtonkly chopped almonds;
  • olive and butter;
  • 1 clove garlic.

Green beans are cut and then boiled for about 5 minutes over medium heat in salted water. As soon as it becomes soft, the water drains. Next, pour a tablespoon of butter and olive oil into the frying pan, heat it, add grated garlic, and cut the almonds.

All this is fried for 1-2 minutes, after which the beans are poured into the pan, mixed and fried another 2 minutes. Seasoned dish to taste.
